 This
newly restored educational facility is situated on 2.03 acres
in the Historical District of Ybor City. The project consisted
of totally renovating the existing VME Building constructed in
1908 to hold the administrative offices, multipurpose room,
and additional classrooms. Two new buildings were added to the
complex, with housing on the first floors, and housing for
teachers working on the site on the second floors. An
additional pre-engineered Play Court was also developed for
recreation and outside gatherings.
Work on the historical
VME Administration Building consisted of a total restoration
to both exterior and interior spaces including environmentally
sensitive mold remediation work. Exterior work included a new
roof structure, all brick masonry retooling, all new window
and entrance doors/hardware, and the replacement of the North
and South Grand entrances to the building. Interior work
included all new mechanical and electrical systems and fully
fire sprinkled spaces, total new restoration of the structural
woodwork, all new interior finishes, and new
telecommunications/security systems. A full site work package
was also part of this contract. All work was designed and
constructed in conformance with the Barrio Latino Commission
Standards. |
