Mathews Construction was selected as the
Construction Manager on the University’s new 9-story student
residence hall. The program required early involvement in the
preconstruction/design phase. Upon completion of Design
Development drawings, a Guaranteed Maximum Price was submitted
to the owner along with a scheduled completion date. The
contract fixed Mathews Construction’s fee and general
conditions, however a “shared savings” clause created
incentive for cooperation between all team members. The
construction site was so tight that the delivery of materials
required precision timing. There was no staging area available
so materials were delivered to each floor as they were needed
to complete construction. The project was completed under
budget and a full two months ahead of schedule. |
